As the title suggests the site consists of materials relating to the movement pioneer Rudolf Laban (1879 – 1958).

Most of the material consists of  Pat Lehner’s translations of  Laban’s writings in German, be they letters, notes, or articles. There are also transcripts of Interviews conducted by John Hodgson in the 1970s and by Dick McCaw in the early 2000s.

There still remains a wealth of material to be transcribed, translated and edited: Laban’s correspondence runs to some 400 letters, and there are over a hundred reviews to be translated. In addition,  there are articles, published and unpublished, and handwritten notes. When we have funds these will be added to the site. If you know of any organisations or interested individuals, do share this information with us through the contact form at the bottom of this page. The originals of all of these materials can be found in the Special Collections of the Brotherton Library, University of Leeds.

Enjoy your stay with us.

This website has been designed by Piers Wallace who worked tirelessly and cheerfully to enter the vast amount of written material. We cannot thank him enough for his heroic labours and his elegant design.
